Devised and organized by Lion Bob Stanley of the Lions on Line Lions Club (LOL LC) and in conjunction with the Exeter LC MD105SW , this is an internet project that works.  This activity is designed to bring the world to children who have little or no chance to discover the world on their own.  This project has been running for 3 years

1.          Lions around the world are asked to forward names and addresses of very sick children, providing that the parents or guardians have given permission, to Lion Bob Stanley (A10RWS@aol.com A10RWS@aol.com).
2.          The name and address is added to the list of sick children, and then dispatched to all the Lions on the distribution list of LionNet-NEWS which includes all the Lions who are members of LOL LC. In addition, there is a contact list of interested Lions who support the Project, but are not on the LionNet-NEWS list. This includes Liaison Lions for Clubs, Districts and Zones.
3.          These individuals are asked to send a Picture Post Card of any locality, to the child, with some form of wording, if any, about the picture. -- "Get Well Cards" are discouraged for obvious reasons.
4.          At present, the distribution is only in the English language, but I am working on distribution in Spanish and Italian. (Now done through the courtesy of the Lions in Europa Internet Club.)
5.          Names and addresses are only accepted through Lion members, who can be verified as Lions in Good Standing. These, are referred to as Sponsoring Lions.
6.          Children with a short prognosis (under a month to live) are not accepted. It is not thought desirable that immediate bereaved parents should start to receive cards addressed to the child, probably within days of the bereavement. To that end, the Sponsoring Lion must maintain contact with the family involved, so that I can be kept informed of any sudden deterioration in the child's health.
7.          The list of names and addresses must NOT be published on Bulletin Boards, or any place that is open to the public. This is to prevent unscrupulous or corrupt individuals sending undesirable material to the families.

Hi, let me take a moment of your time.  I am the mother of Christopher  Ramsey.  I would like to send a heartfelt thank you to all of you who have been sending cards and postcards.  What a wonderful thing for you to do.  Every day when we are comming home from school, we stop at the mailbox and he is so excited to see if he has mail.  then of coarse he wants to know where it is from.  He has received cards from all over.  He even got a card with a pack of Skittles (candy).  I cannot find the words to express my gratitude to all of you for putting that smile on his little face.  Please keep up the great work!!  And know  that your one little card from somewhere lit up a childs day.  I don't know how many other children are getting these cards but even if no one sends a thank you or anything,  know in your heart that you HAVE made a difference.  I sincerely thank all of you!!

Letter from a 13 year old child, via the sponsoring Lion:- #22 Stevie Rasmussen has received 81 cards. He typed a letter for me to send to you.
Dear Lions,  My name is Stevie Rasmussen and I have received 81 postcards from Lions all over the world. Thank you to all the Lions for thinking of me and sending their good wishes. I have had a Vargus Nerve Stimulator implanted in my chest/shoulder area and it has reduced the seizures about 99% !  That is my really special news. I am now recuperating from surgery on my right leg that should improve my ability to walk.

Thank you for thinking of me. I use my atlas and the internet  to find all the places the Lions live.

Yours truly, Stevie Rasmussen

From #34 using a mouth stick as his only means of communication
TO ALL THE LIONS AROUND THE WORLD I WOULD LIKE TO THANK ALL THE PEOPLE WHO HAVE PARTICIPATED IN SENDING ME POSTCARDS AND CHRISTMAS CARDS TO BRIGHTEN UP MY DAYS. I WAS VERY EXITED EVERY TIME MY MOM WENT TO THE POST OFFICE AND RETURNED WITH LOTS OF NEW POSTCARDS.
ONE OF MY HOBBYS IS TO COLLECT STAMPS, AND I RECEIVED SUCH A VARIETY OF BEAUTIFUL STAMPS. I ENJOYED LEARNING MORE ABOUT ALL THE PLACES WHERE I RECEIVED POSTCARDS FROM. THANKS FOR ALL THE LOVELY PEOPLE WHO OPENED THEIR HEARTS TOWARDS SOMEONE THEY HAVE NEVER MET.
